Frequently asked questions and what you should be thinking about when hiring a DJ:
How long does it take to set up?
It does depend a little on how good the access is to the venue, but you should allow an hour for set up.
How much do you charge?
The cost of a DJ varies enormously (anywhere between £100 and £1000 and sometimes more), and it has been calculated that the national average for a quality DJ is about £500. Our fees are based on the costs of running a business providing a professional, high quality service, and we are continually recommended to others by very satisfied past customers. As an example, a Friday or Saturday evening function will cost from around £450, For this you will get us as your DJ, a high quality sound system and an impressive light show. To enable us to give you a specific quote tailored to meet your events requirements, please contact us. The cheapest DJ will very rarely be the best. Sadly, we have heard too often that the choice of such a DJ has been greatly regretted, with the resultant disco bringing an unsatisfactory conclusion to the special day. If you wish (and it is acceptable with the venue) we can set up before your wedding breakfast in the morning.
Do you take a deposit, and how can I pay you?
We will request a deposit from you to secure the booking. The deposit cheque will be cashed and forms part payment for the disco. If the disco is cancelled the deposit will be non-returnable. The balance can be paid by cheque, cash or by bank transfer. For full terms and conditions see here.
How do we know the booking is confirmed?
When the booking is made, we will send out a booking form. This gives you our details and lets us know about the reason for the disco, who it’s for, the venue and times. This forms a "contract" if you like, with all the details clearly recorded.
Do you take requests?
Yes. We are always surprised when we are told that some DJ’s will not accept requests. It’s your party!
What music do you play?
We play a large variety of music, from the 50’s to today’s pop, R&B and dance charts. If you have any music on a CD you would like played (and you think we may not have it) please bring it along. It will be returned!
Can we meet you to discuss our function?
Of course. In fact we prefer it if we do. Be wary of any DJ who will not allow you to meet. We always offer to meet our clients or at the very least chat over the phone. This is important for a variety of reasons. Firstly, you will want to make sure that you are comfortable with us as your DJ. Then, we can also discuss your function in full and any special requirements can be highlighted. This important meeting gives us a really good idea of what kind of music you like and how you want your event to run. Should you wish to meet again, this is not a problem. You are always welcome to call or meet to discuss anything further.
Will it be you who turns up to DJ at our party?
Yes. We are not an agency and neither do we work for any agencies.
Do you have all the required Insurance, licences and test certificates?
Yes. We have full Public Liability Insurance (PLI), and all our electrical equipment is tested annually (PAT Tested). We also have a ProDub Licence – please see below for an explanation:
Any individual such as a DJ who copies, burns or transfers, a songwriters, composers and musicians work from their vinyl, CD, MP3 or CD+G collection onto a digital format such as an MP3 player, flash drive or laptop for use in a professional or semi-professional working environment, needs to purchase a ProDub Licence. Please note, the venues PPL licence DOES NOT cover this requirement.
All Certificates and Licences are available upon request.
